Focused Extracorporeal Shockwave Treatment

This cutting edge treatment consists of an acoustic sound wave focused and directed at the depth of the pathology (as I can measure using in office ultrasound imaging). Bundles of high-energy acoustic waves target various depths inside the body, eliciting a cascade of cellular and molecular responses in a process known as mechanotransduction. This stimulates a cytokines release, floods the pain receptors and induces collagen formation.

Unique in medical technology, the mechanical energy of the shockwaves is converted into biochemical signals in the diseased target tissue. ESWT is able to repair pathologically altered tissue, achieve regeneration, and lead to complete self-healing.

Pain is reduced immediately after the treatment and improvements are also seen and felt over time.

Shockwave therapy can be used alone or in combination with other regenerative treatments like PRP injections. There is no downtime with this treatment. Usually I recommend a series of 3-5 treatments one week apart, and I give rehabilitation exercises/recommendations to target the injury and stimulate tissue repair in conjunction.
